Eric Bedard wins the Presidential Citation Award 2015
I was humbled an honoured at the VMC Annual Banquet this past weekend. The President of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Mr Shawn Farquhar came to Victoria to join the Victoria Magic Circle’s Annual banquet – we had sold out – 168 seats at $50.00 per seat. We hold this annual holiday banquet in January as many of us are busy in December.

At the Banquet, Shawn was asked to speak on behalf of the IBM of course. However at the end of his presentation he mentioned that he had a very special presentation to make and he read out this Presidential Citation that he was about to present. I was sure it was going to be presented to Murray Hatfield, but no, that was not the case. When he called out my name, I looked around the room to see where this person was. Then I realized it was me he was referring to. I have won many International awards, but to be recognized by the Prez of the IBM and to receive a thunderous Standing Ovation from everyone in the room, was overwhelming. As I mentioned I have a couple of boxes of trophies in storage, they are wonderful but how many trophies does one need to display? However, this one will be on the wall in the Magic Room for many years to come. Shawn had given out two others, one to a magician in the US and one to a magician in China. I was deeply touched by this and will treasure this for many years.
